World Premiere of “Green Room” set for Cannes

The world premiere of “Green Room,” the film shot in Oregon, by director Jeremy Saulnier (“Blue Ruin”) will be screening at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. According to Variety’s Justin Chang, the film follows a band of punk rockers who find themselves trapped in a secluded setting, fighting for their lives against a gang of neo-Nazis, led by Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek: The Next Generation,”). The film also stars Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek”), Imogen Poots (“28 Weeks Later,”) Alia Shawkat, Callum Turner and Joe Cole.

The film used Oregon crew and extras—in part, because it received financial incentives from the Oregon Governor’s Film Office, “Oregon Film,” led by Director Tim Williams. Principal photography began in Portland in October, 2014. The Cannes Film Festival will be held May 13 – 24, 2015. The festival named Joel and Ethan Coen as the Presidents of the Jury for the main competition.  It’s the first time that two people will chair the jury.
